Students at Parkmore Primary School participate in 1 hour of Physical Education and a separate 1 hour session of Sport.
During the Physical Education sessions, Parkmore students work through the Fundamental Motor Skills required in various sports and physical activities. These include: Run, Jump, Throw, Catch, Kick, Leap and Dodge. These skills are taught both alone and in game-based activities to rehearse the skill and its components.
Our Sport lessons, teach the students to combine their Fundamental Motor Skills into sports and games with an emphasis on having fun and being active rather than winning and losing. Students also learn good sportsmanship, fairness and rules for individual sports. During these sessions, the Parkmore students are prepared for District Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country, Winter and Summer Sports.
At Parkmore Primary we compete in House, District, Division, Regional and State sporting events with the SSV. Students have the opportunities to join the SSV state teams through this interschool process.
Parkmore competes in a range of sporting programs including Athletics, Cross Country, Sports Aerobics, Hoop Time Basketball, Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball, Softball, Soccer, AFL, Netball, Ultimate Frisbee, TeeBall, Rounders, Orienteering, Gymnastics and Lawn Bowls. There are plenty of opportunities for the Parkmore students to be fit and active in school. Through the Sporting Schools initiative, students are linked with local clubs to encourage participation in physical activity outside of school.
Additional sporting initiatives at Parkmore Primary include, Walk/Ride to School day, Whole School Swimming and Water Safety program, House Swimming/ Athletics/ Cross Country carnivals and Whole School Gymnastics which are held each calendar year.
Our intention is to get as many students active and engaged in sport as possible to produce fit, healthy and resilient life long learners.
